In this episode…
Fitting people with hearing aids is a beautiful blend of subjective and objective, science and personal experience. Patients need trained doctors to ensure their hearing technology suits them best. The reality, however, is far more complicated. There is a tremendous amount of research being performed on how to properly measure hearing loss and how to treat it properly. Few people are more knowledgeable on these subjects than Dr. Gus Mueller.
Dr. Mueller has spent 50 years in audiology, working in research, lecturing, writing, and even private consulting. His blend of academia and real world experience has made him a pioneer in the subject of hearing aids. His insights have helped shape the audiology landscape, and now he’s here to share with you.
In this first installment, Dr. Mark Syms has a powerful interview with Dr. Gus Mueller to discuss the state of hearing aids and hearing measurements. They talk in-depth on the history of these subjects, how to help patients most effectively, and which practices are most useful. They also dive into detail on the science behind hearing and its real-world application. Hear all of this and much more on this episode of the ListenUp! podcast.Sponsor for this episode...

Update : i saw a doctor who did a great job ; it turns out that i had a severe infection but no otisis ; the pain and fever were driving me crazy...im not ready for the olympics games, but i feel much better now ! 🙂 Would you believe that swimming twice could cause some big troubles ? I have an otisis and it sudenly became severe ; its really painful, especially at night ; even my jaw hurts. I found a specialised doctor in Paris, and I need to go there tomorrow...can you believe it ? A (small) car crash, a severe otisis, and going to Paris tomorrow..I think im ready to whach again the famous french movie "the Goat" with G. Depardieu and P. Richard ! 🙃

Looking for advice how to get family members to be more sensitive to cross talking, interruption, loud and multiple convos with cell phone sound going on at the same time. Not causing dementia but they do drive me crazy because my brain can't compute that with hearing in only one ear. (Total rt sided loss since an infant). You might try to improve your audio on these vids. Kind of ironic it is so bad on a vid about hearing.🤷🏼‍♀️ Hope you take this as constructive criticism. 👂👂

    1. In SSNL, what kind of virus affects the hearing nerve? Can normal cold, flu or sinus allergies affect the hearing nerve? 2. How does blood circulation gets stopped to the hearing nerve? Why does it happen and what can we do to prevent blood circulation issues in the ear?

I had profound hearing loss in my left hear due to idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss. I woke up one day and felt numbness all around my left ear and an internal pressure. Internal pressure lasted till a week and my hearing was muffled, I thought I was having a cold or flu. After a week, I lost all the hearing on the left side and took three steroid injections into the middle ear. Treatment didn't help me restore my hearing. Still doctors haven't found a reason for my hearing loss! All reports are clear. I don't even understand what causes the hearing nerve to die all of a sudden.
